Consort Music a4 (ttTB)

This edition includes all of Cranford's music for four viols: four fantasias and the variations on the melody "Walsingham." His music is pointillistic, chromatic, often bizarre, with hoquets and sudden mood swings. The Walsingham variations are difficult but very rewarding. The four fantasias can now (2015) be heard on the CD 'Olde Focus Recordings' FCR905, played by LeStrange Viols.
